I am so glad that you are here. Whether you are entering into a new chapter in your therapy journey or this is your first experience, you are taking the first step to living more confidently and authentically, gaining deeper self-compassion to create the life you have always wanted.

A Bit About Me

As someone who identifies as an empath and a highly sensitive person, I have always found myself drawn to hearing people's stories and learning more about the human experience. I care deeply about the world, people, animals, and nature around me and it brings me joy and fulfillment to understand and learn from those I encounter and meet through life.

I truly love connecting with people and being able to walk along side individuals throughout all chapters of life. I feel incredibly grateful to work as a therapist and to have the opportunity to sit with individuals in their most challenging moments.

Alexandra Grissom, Female Therapist in Seattle

MY Approach

My approach is gentle, compassionate and warm. I show up to each therapy session with curiosity and openness to listen and learn more about you and your experience. I utilize analogies and metaphors as a way to deepen understanding and create empathy. I enjoy bringing humor into our work together and find that laughter can provide connection and safety.

Emotion focused

I practice from an Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) lens where we look deeply into the emotional aspect of your experiences in order to identify, cultivate acceptance, and bring awareness to what you are feeling.

collaborative

I view the therapy experience as collaborative, where we work together to identify your goals, provide feedback, and discuss how you are feeling towards the end of each session.

Strength based

I believe that each individual has their own unique set of strengths to facilitate the change in their life that they desire. We will build upon your strengths and increase your confidence in all areas of your life.

holistic

I use a holistic approach when working with clients, looking at all aspects of the person: biological, psychological, social, emotional, spiritual, and sexual.

attachment based

I view attachment and our relationships with others as a core part of being human. How we relate and connect with others begins from infancy and changes throughout the course of our lives.

My philosophy

I believe the therapeutic relationship is key to the therapy process and serves as the foundation of our work together. I view this relationship as collaborative, trusting, respectful, non-judgemental, and a source of care and safety.

I hold the view that each individual is operating within the context of different systems (family and community system, etc.) and these different systems impact and contribute to your beliefs, experiences, patterns, and your overall well-being. There are systems not only on a societal level, but also on a national and global level that deeply impact and shape individual lives on a daily basis. It is important to recognize these systems in order to process and heal from their impact.

education & training

I earned both my Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2020 and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in 2017 from Seattle Pacific University.

I recently completed an intensive Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) training through the Cognitive Behavior Institute (CBI). Additionally, I have completed an intensive training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, OCD, and Phobias.

I have completed level 1 & 2 of Lifespan Integration (LI) training for the treatment of trauma.

Outside of Therapy

When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy trying new restaurants and cooking at home. I am a self proclaimed foodie and always open to trying new cuisines.

Along with a passion for food, I love exercising, spending time with my husband and our cat, Muffin, as well as exploring our new home in Florida. If I am not outside enjoying the sunshine, I am typically catching up on the latest reality TV shows or reading fantasy novels.
